Economic Summit: Appoint economic minded aides before flagging off, Rep Obasa tells Buhari

The lawmaker representing Ojo Federal Constituency in the lower legislative chamber, Hon Tajudeen Obasa has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari on the organization of the two-day summit aimed at salvaging the economy and to arrest any further fall of the naira against the dollar. This came following the plan of the Federal Government to organize an Economic Summit on March 10 and 11,. Obasa, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party reminded the President of his earlier stand on the issue of the appointment of a Chief Economic Adviser and other economic related appointments. In a statement released by his media aide, Mr Opeyemi Ahmed, the lawmaker urged him to extend his searchlight on the economy by appointing four aides on economic issues as done in his media department. ” An Economic Summit without a Chief Economic Adviser and other economic related aides won’t be fruitful to the desire of an average Nigerian. If the goal of the summit is to salvage the dwindling economy, urgency is needed for more economic aides so that the summit won’t be turned to a summit of much talk and less action” “To sustain a proper frame work pre and post of the economic summit, it will be a nice gesture for economic minded aides to be appointed before the summit, such appointments will ensure Nigerians have access to them for necessary inputs and also to complement the planning processes of the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria Mr Godwin Emiefele”
