A man named Marc Knight was quite upset when he arrived to see his parked bike's tail lamp smashed. However, the motorist responsible surprised him by leaving an apology note and money to fix the lamp. Sharing what occurred via his Facebook profile, he wrote,

"Today I had parked my bike at the Rajiv Gandhi Government hospital, Chennai. When I returned I found my tail lamp smashed...for a moment I was really upset, but I found a small bit of paper rolled into my helmet which was on the bike. It was a sorry note and a couple of hundred rupees rolled up with it. I was indeed taken aback....in a world of road rage and recklessness. ..this was a pleasant reminder that humanity still existed. So guys just share this and if it reaches the guy who did this. ..I want to say "thank you....you are a good person!"

Breaking: Suicide bomber hits Maiduguri again, 4 killed

A suicide bombing at the  government secretariat in Nigeria’s northeastern city of Maiduguri killed at least four people on Thursday, residents said.
Rescue workers were seen carrying four bodies away.
The attack in the city centre bore the hallmark of the jihadist group, Boko Haram, which has been waging an insurgency in the north for seven years.
It was the second suicide bombing attack in 12 hours.
Thursday’s bombing would be the first successful attack in more than two months. However, soldiers and civilian self-defense groups have reported preventing several suicide bombings in recent weeks.
On Wednesday,  troops of 7 Division Garrison Commnd of the Nigerian Army, in conjunction with the Civilian JTF maintaining security and vigilance, frustrated a suicide bombing of Sulaimanti, in the outskirts of Maiduguri city.
The terrorist carrying Improvised Explosive Device (IED), attempted to attack worshippers at Sulaimanti mosque during early morning prayer.
He was however prevented from gaining access to the mosque. Five civilians sustained injuries during the failed attempt.
A team of specialists on Explosive Ordinance Device (EOD) have successfully detonated the remaining IEDs and combed the area.
The injured had since been evacuated to the hospital while troops and security agents have intensified patrol within the general area.

Nigerians react to new N145 fuel price

Nigerians have expressed concern over the Federal Government’s announcement of a new price regime for premium motor spirit commonly known as petrol.

Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, who announced the new price of N145 per litre of petrol said, “We share the pains of Nigerians but, as we have constantly said, the inherited difficulties of the past and the challenges of the current times imply that we must take difficult decisions on these sorts of critical national issues.

“Along with this decision, the federal government has in the 2016 budget made an unprecedented social protection provision to cushion the current challenges.

“The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) will be announcing a new price band effective today, 11th May, 2016 and that the new price for PMS will not be above N145 per litre.”

OPC declares war against Fulani herdsmen

Lagos - The Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), has declared war against Fulani herdsmen that recently attacked and killed scores in Enugu state, Leadership reports.
The Yoruba militia group made its resolution known at a general meeting held at Gbagada Roundabout in Lagos on Tuesday.
More than 1 000 members of the group from across many states of the federation including Bayelsa, participated in the meeting.
The group also resolved to forcefully oppose the sponsorship of the grazing bill at the National Assembly, saying the position is not only an insult to the ‘collective psyche of Nigerians.’
It said the attacks of the herdsmen could be traced to many centuries ago when the Yoruba lands including the old Oyo empire was ravaged by the activities of the herdsmen.

Man kills roommate for refusing to have sex twice

A man has been jailed over the alleged murder of his roommate over her refusal to have sex with him - for two rounds!
According to World Wide Weird News, Gary Stevenson is being held for stabbing his roommate Katy Rourke in the heart just two weeks after she moved into their Glasgow apartment.
Stevenson has admitted to the crime, saying that he flew into a rage after the two had sex and she refused to indulge him a second time due to having to be at work.
Stevenson has claimed that he snapped and "totally lost control", punching her several times before fatally stabbing her.
The suspect has since pleaded guilty in court and has been sentenced to a minimum of 17 years in prison.
Ex-flatmates of the deceased have claimed that Stevenson would turn violent against any woman who rejected his advances and that he had exhibited disturbing behaviour in the lead-up to her death, The Courier reports.

Labour rejects N145 new petrol price.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congres (TUC) have rejected the proposed increase in petrol price by the federal government.
The General Secretary, NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, said in a statement that the increase was unilaterally done and only showed the level of insensitivity and impunity of the government, Punch reports.

He said that the Congress had scheduled an emergency meeting of its National Executive Committee for Friday.
Confirming the new price, PPPRA, on Wednesday, officially announced the new price band for petrol at N145 per litre.

It also advised the NNPC retail stations on the outskirts of major cities to sell at price lower than N145 per litre.
Executive Secretary of the agency, Sotonye Iyoyo, in a press statement on Wednesday, said the review became imperative in the face of extreme difficulties faced by petroleum product importers in sourcing foreign exchange.
NLC president, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, and the TUC president, Comrade Bobboi Kaigama, reacting to the increase said they had called the emergency meeting of their relevant organs to take a prompt decision on the issue according to Tribune

In his response, Wabba said: “we reject it. We are going to convey emergency meeting of our National Executive Council (NEC). Look at the economic situation, workers and Nigerians cannot afford it.

“The workers have not been receiving their salaries regularly. We have not even resolved the issue of electricity tariff. Nigerians cannot afford foods on their table and now, we are talking about another increase in fuel price,” he said.

Also, the TUC president, Kaigama, said the Federal Government caught them unawares with the sudden increase, adding that labour rejected it in totality.

Teaching hospital workers lock Fayose out

The protest rocking the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, heightened on Wednesday as protesting workers locked Governor Ayodele Fayose out.
Some staff had staged violent protests following the death of two doctors from the hospital that were among the six doctors and a driver that died along Abuja-Kaduna road on April 24.
The deceased and six others were on their way to the Nigerian Medical Association’s Annual General Meeting.
The protesters had called for the immediate removal of the Chief Medical Director, Dr Majekodunmi Ayodele, accusing him of being responsible for the cause of the accident.
Two of the doctors, Dr. Tunde Aladesanmi and Dr. Alex Akinyele, were staff of the hospital.
Fayose had met stakeholders consisting of all medical and non-medical workers, traditional rulers and Ayodele at the Government House, Ado Ekiti, where he pleaded with parties to sheathe their swords and allow peace to reign.
But the situation in the hospital got worse on Wednesday as the protesters barricaded the highways and carried three mock coffins of Ayodele with the inscription “R.I.P. Dr Majekodunmi Ayodele”,  with the photograph of the CMD affixed.
The governor, who rushed to the hospital on hearing about the protest, was barred from entering the premises by the protesters. They blocked the main gate with a hummer bus belonging to the hospital.
The presence of some traditional rulers did not help as the monarchs left in a disappointed, having been held in the sun for over an hour.
The governor, after about an hour of waiting at the gate, eventually succumbed to the will of the staff and addressed them outside the hospital premises.
Fayose said, “I’m not here for Ayodele. I’m here for you. This is a federal hospital. As much as you don’t want him again. I support you. I want to thank you for your patience, but we have to remember that we have no other place than Ekiti State and we should ensure that hooligans don’t hijack this protest from us. What you are doing today goes to show that the people’s power is greater than those in power.
“The death of our six doctors is still fresh in our memories, so we cannot afford to lose other lives. It is so unfortunate that the actions and inactions of Dr  Ayodele has led us to this level and deprive many Ekiti indigenes the needed medical services.
“If it is in advanced clime or advanced democracy or if I were Dr. Ayodele, I will resign. I held a meeting with the management on Tuesday, May 10, where I told the CMD that he has not done well for this state and the hospital in the way he manages the affairs of this institution. Nobody can give kudos to him with the way he has run this place.
“Dr Ayodele cannot be bigger than this institution. There  was a rumour that I brought him here to resume office, this is not true. I cannot identify with him under this circumstance. I want to tell you staff that you have a good case. One man cannot be greater than you, but you need to be careful.
“I will write my own report before the end of today(Wednesday) and send to Abuja on the need for the federal government through the Ministry of Health to make a change in this hospital by withdrawing the appointment of Dr Ayodele with immediate effect. I will tell them, that the CMD can no longer enjoy your confidence.
“Federal Government must not treat my request as opposition voice. Let me put on record that the FG will be held responsible if anything happens.
“But as you stage this protest, I want to plead that you allow patients who need medical care to be treated here in the interest of our well being.”
Fayose called on the Police and the Department of State Services to work hand-in-hand and prevent the protest from being hijacked or escalate before controllable state.
In a related development, the Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori-Faboro in a meeting with the governor at his palace said that the hospital crisis had engulfed the community.
He appealed to the Federal Government to set up a panel of enquiry into the crisis, adding that even if the CMD would go as demanded by the staff, a cabal of the staff workers allegedly insitgating the crisis against the management of the hospital must also be shown the way out.
He also said that he was leading a high-powered delegation to brief the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja, on the recommendation of the governor.

EFCC gets order to hold Fani-Kayode for 14 days

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has obtained a remand order to keep a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, in custody for the next two weeks.
The remand order is, however, renewable after 14 days depending on the outcome of investigations.
Fani-Kayode is being investigated by the EFCC for allegedly receiving N840m when he was the Director of Publicity for the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation in 2015.
The money, which Fani-Kayode confessed to receiving, was said to have emanated from the account of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The commission had recently frozen the ex-minister’s Zenith Bank account with number 1004735721 domiciled at Maitama, Abuja.
Fani-Kayode had told our correspondent that the PDP leadership gave him the impression that the money was sourced from private individuals.
He said, “I served as the director of publicity of the Jonathan campaign organisation and I was told to set up an account for the directorate, which I did. I never received money from the CBN but like all the other directors, we received money from the director of finance.”
However, a detective told our correspondent that the EFCC was working on the assumption that the ex-minister might have received more than N840m.
The source said, “Besides the N840m that Fani-Kayode admitted to receiving, we believe he got more. Thanks to BVN (Bank Verification Number), we can trace all other accounts that he has. We will trace the transaction history and see how much he truly received and how much was from the public funds.
“There are other petitions against the former minister and he will be grilled. In the coming days, we will reveal the outcome of investigations.”
When asked if the investigation of the former minister was a witch-hunt as alleged, the detective said such excuses were not tenable in court.
He recalled that Fani-Kayode was arraigned in court for several offences between 2008 and 2015, noting that this was under the PDP administrations.
“The issue of a witch-hunt does not apply here. Fani-Kayode faced a criminal trial under (late President Umaru) Yar’Adua and (former President Goodluck) Jonathan. Did it mean they also hated him?” the detective said.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that the commission might seize some of the ex-minister’s properties as investigations continue.
“Section 29 permits the assets of a person arrested under Section 28 to be seized by the state. The Recovery of Public Property Special Provisions Act Cap R42004 Laws of the Federation also empowers the EFCC to seize assets,” the source added.

BREAKING NEWS: FG removes subsidy

The Federal Government on Wednesday officially ended the subsidy regime on premium motor spirit, popularly known as petrol, and will allow market forces determine the cost of the product.
This was reached during an extensive meeting held at the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in Abuja.
Officials, who attended the meeting, said the price of petrol may start from N145 per litre, but explained that the government would strictly monitor compliance.

Queen filmed calling Chinese officials 'very rude'

he Queen has been filmed saying Chinese officials were "very rude" during last year's state visit by President Xi Jinping.
She was discussing their treatment of Britain's ambassador to China with a senior police officer at a Buckingham Palace garden party on Tuesday.
Buckingham Palace said the Chinese visit had been "extremely successful".
Chinese officials in both London and Beijing also recalled the visit's "success".
The invitation to President Xi was part of the government's policy of courting Chinese investment.
The Queen's remarks were filmed as she was introduced to Metropolitan Police Commander Lucy D'Orsi, who the monarch is told had overseen security during President Xi's visit to the UK in October.
She is heard to respond: "Oh, bad luck."

'Extraordinary'

An official went on to tell the Queen that Commander D'Orsi had been "seriously, seriously undermined by the Chinese, but she managed to hold her own and remain in command".
Commander D'Orsi told the Queen: "I was the Gold Commander so I'm not sure whether you knew, but it was quite a testing time for..."
"I did," the Queen said.
Commander D'Orsi continued: "It was at the point they walked out of Lancaster House and told me that the trip was off, that I felt..."
The Queen said: "They were very rude to the ambassador."
Commander D'Orsi replied: "They were... it was very rude and undiplomatic I thought."
The Queen described it as "extraordinary".
A Buckingham Palace spokesman later said: "We do not comment on the Queen's private conversations.
"However, the Chinese State Visit was extremely successful and all parties worked closely to ensure it proceeded smoothly."
Royal garden parties are filmed by the cameraman who covers the palace for UK broadcasters.
Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said that "at times it got a bit stressful on both sides" but that state visits were big logistical challenges.
At the palace, Ms D'Orsi told reporters it had been "rewarding" to be thanked by the Queen for her work during the state visit.
She said the Queen and her own mother had chatted about the benefits of being grandmothers.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman has said it was not prepared to discuss a private conversation.

Reports censored

In Beijing, a government spokesperson described the trip as very successful, starting a "Golden Era" of relations.
Asked several times if that era continued today he neither confirmed nor denied it.
The Chinese Embassy in London said both sides at "the working level" had made great efforts towards the visit's success.
At the time of the visit, the Queen hailed it as a "milestone" and declared Anglo-Chinese ties were being taken to "ambitious" new heights.
President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan were honoured with a state banquet at Buckingham Palace, hosted by the Queen.
Last year, the official talk was of a trade focused state visit ushering in a "golden time" for relations between the two countries.
We now know, thanks to a conversation in the Queen's palace garden, that it was a testing time behind the scenes.
Blunt talking, in public, is normally the preserve of the Queen's husband.
In the 80s, Prince Philip warned some British students in China that they'd get "slitty eyes" if they stayed there too long.
And Prince Charles - who's avoided two Chinese state banquets in the UK - described some officials in a leaked journal as "appalling old waxworks".
Buckingham Palace - while not commenting on what they call a private conversation - have stressed all parties worked closely to ensure an extremely successful Chinese state visit proceeded smoothly.

Reports blocked

Coverage of the comments has been censored in China where a report on BBC World News was blanked out.
Instead, state media outlets have dedicated their coverage to the Queen's dress sense and notable party attendees.
Social media users have been keen to comment, but many appear to have had their posts removed by online censors.
Some managed to bypass filters by using English rather than Chinese to repeat the Queen's comments.

'Spurious claims'

The Queen has largely avoided making political statements in her 64-year reign but it is not the first time her comments on controversial areas have been reported.
In the build-up to Scotland's 2014 referendum on independence, Buckingham Palace denied suggestions that the Queen would wish to influence the result, following reports that she was concerned.
Shortly before the vote she was heard saying she hoped people would "think very carefully about the future".
And in March this year, there were claims by the Sun newspaper that the Queen told former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg in 2011 she was in favour of the UK leaving the European Union.
Buckingham Palace said it would not comment on "spurious" claims and complained to the press watchdog, while Mr Clegg called the story "nonsense".
Earlier on Tuesday, the prime minister was filmed at a Buckingham Palace event to mark the Queen's 90th birthday also making unguarded comments.
Talking about this week's anti-corruption summit in London, he said: "We've got some leaders of some fantastically corrupt countries coming to Britain. Nigeria and Afghanistan, possibly the two most corrupt countries in the world."
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby intervened to say: "But this particular president is not corrupt. He's trying very hard." before Speaker John Bercow said: "They are coming at their own expense, one assumes?"
BBC political correspondent James Landale said the prime minister's remarks were outspoken, unguarded and ostensibly embarrassing, but they were not untrue.
In Transparency International's 2015 corruption perception index, Afghanistan was ranked at 167, ahead of only Somalia and North Korea, Nigeria was at 136.

'Unfair characterisation'

With his remark, the archbishop was believed to have been referring to Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari, who won elections last year promising to fight widespread corruption.
Mr Buhari said he was "shocked" by the prime minister's comments, while a senior Afghan official said the characterisation was "unfair".
No 10 said the presidents of Nigeria and Afghanistan had "acknowledged the scale of the corruption challenge they face in their countries".
