Group asks FG to investigate Ikpeazu-Avengers connection.

Following claims by the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers NDA that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is behind the political stalemate in Abia state, a pressure group, Abiazurumee Oganihu Abia, has lambasted the NDA, warning it to steer clear of issues regarding the state. It dismissed as ridiculous the position of the avengers that the federal government is plotting to install Dr. Uche Ogah as the governor of Abia as part of an elaborate plan to have him consequently defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC. The group expressed concern at the connection between the militant group and the embattled governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, urging the federal government to investigate the matter. Abiazurumee Oganihu Abia, described Ogah as a deeply committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP who is unquestionably loyal to the party. It also condemned in strong terms the position of a section of Abia elders in Abia state and “an obviously partisan Ohaneze Igbo Youths for their negative comments on the Federal High Court ruling and the INEC issuance of a certificate of return to Dr Uche Ogah the rightful gubernatorial choice of every Abian as cowardly, and a support against the interest of an ordinary Abians”. ‎Chairman of the Abiazurumee Oganihu Abia‎, Okey Nwachukwu in a statement issued Wednesday in Abuja wondered why the “so-called Abia elders should pretend to be happy with the state of things in Abia where even primary school children are crying for help and calling for a change”. According to Mr. Nwachukwu, “the court judgment was simply an affirmation that God had heard the cries of Abians and had come to set Abia free and to redeem the state from those who have destroyed it.‎” The group also called on security agencies to investigate the connection between Dr. Ikpeazu and his latest spokespersons, the Niger Delta Avengers, “to unmask those sponsoring the group in its avowed terrorist plots to destabilize the Niger Delta and destroy the Nigerian economy. “Ikpeazu appears to enjoy the support and confidence of the terrorist organization that is so vehement in aiding his case by spreading false, fallacious and ridiculous propaganda.” The group decried the backwardness, stagnation, non payment of salaries, political patronage, insensitivity of the political elite and nepotism in Abia as patently legendary and such that called for a change. But yesterday the Niger Delta Avengers, refuted media reports that it opened a new Twitter accounts, @Real_Ndavengers and @NDAvengers1 where the allegation that the federal government is plotting to install Dr. Uche Ogah as the governor of Abia.
